Safety Skits
Students in class were to perform a safety skit on one or more of the lab safety rules. Also, they needed to write the rules of the other
groups as the skits were being performed. If you were not in class for the skits, you will need to do this alternate assignment.
Below are a list of rules. This is a long list, but if you use your wits, you don't have to memorize it word for word. Below the list are activities you need to complete to pass the rules portion of the review.
Stuff not to do:
-
Shirking responsibility
-
"Horseplay"
- Wandering around
- Disturbing others
- Running
- Eating without class permission
- Touching materials before instructed to do so
- Endangering class members
- Performing unauthorized experiments
- Starting before reading instructions
- Failing to report accident or incorrect procedure
- Not wearing goggles when asked to do so
- Touching heated materials
- Putting broken glass in sink
- Inhaling chemicals
- Failure to wash after a lab
- Failure to turn water off
- Pulling on cord, not the plug
- Pouring water on a chemical fire

Part 1: Explain why you should use goggles in 3-4 sentences.
Part 2: Choose one of the following written assignments to complete -
- For each rule, please explain WHY it is important.
- Write a 3/4 page paper on a way to remember all the rules.
- Write all of the rules as positives rather than negatives. (For example, instead of saying "No food or drink" change it to "eating is permissible only when the teacher says.")
